2019 Gift guide for the geek dad

Father’s day is coming up and if your husband is anything like mine, that means he likes geeky stuff. However gadgets can get very expensive, so I’ve compiled a gift guide of gadgets that are under $50. That way you can buy your geeky husband a nice gift without breaking the bank.

This post contains affiliate links, which means I receive a small commission, at no extra cost to you, if you make a purchase using this link.

BESWILL Solar Charger

Power banks are always good to have around. This power bank can be charged in the sunlight, but if that is not an option it can also be charged via USB.
A nice feature of this charger is also that it also functions as a flashlight. On one side it has the solar panels and on the other side, it has many LEDs, which gives a very bright light.

AmazonBasics USB-A 3.1 7-Port Hub with Power Adapter

This USB hub is not expensive and it is great to connect to the computer to charge and sync devices. The benefit of a USB port hub is that you have extra USB ports and because it can be put on your table you can conveniently add and remove devices.

HyperX Alloy Core RGB – Membrane Gaming Keyboard

Gaming keyboards can be very expensive. This keyboard is not expensive, but it does not look it. It does not need any software to set up. That’s why it does not have many different programs for lighting, but enough programs for this price range.
The nice thing about it is that the keyboard also has dedicated media buttons.

KINESIS Gaming Vektor RGB Mouse

This beautiful mouse works right out of the box but can be customized with its software. The nice thing about this mouse is that it fits large hands and it is very precise.

Hudly Fast 10W Wireless Charger Car Mount with Robotic Arms

This nice car mount lets you fast charge your phone without using wires. That way you don’t have to search for your cable and because it is wireless there is no wear and tear from plugging and unplugging all the time.

SanDisk Ultra Flair 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive

A flash drive is always a good thing to have. That way files and documents can be easily transferred from one place to the next.

Roku Express | Easy High Definition (HD) Streaming Media Player

The Roku Express lets you stream media to your television. It has a small remote control, but you can also install the remote control app on your phone. The remote app also has a nice voice search feature.

Echo Wall Clock

The echo wall clock is easy to install. Just ask Alexa to set it for you and it will set it and automatically adjust for daylight savings. You can easily set (multiple) timers and the LEDs indicate the time that is still left.

I hope this list helps you pick a nice father’s day gift.

Xoxo,

Vivian

15 Tips For A More Productive And Happy Life

Some people seem so productive that it looks like they have more hours in the day. They don’t have the same 24 hours that we all have, but so much more. Those are the people who are the happiest and despite having more responsibilities than me, they get more done than me.

I don’t know about you, but I can admire and hate them at the same time. Most of the time I’m curious how they do it. They don’t procrastinate for one, but is there more to it than that? I’ve been asking around and reading about it and I’ve come up with some rules these people live by in order to get more done and be so happy.

What Is Time Management (And Why Do You Need It)?

When I think of time management I think of companies with big shot managers, whose job is to make sure that all projects finish on time. I guess that is really what time management is about, but it does not only apply to companies and managers. Time management is also a good skill that can be used by everyone: it can be beneficial to students, stay at home parents, work from home parents, parents with out of the home jobs or even people who aren’t parents. But what is time management exactly?

How To Be A More Patient Parent

Before I became a mom I’d always picture myself doing everything right. I would see the parents with their kids in stores and the kids throwing tantrums or the parents screaming to their kids. I would think that the kids are being spoiled and the parents don’t really talk to their kids. They should be more patient and talking to them instead of yelling and just don’t raise bratty kids.
Fast forward a few years and there I am in the supermarket whisper screaming to one kid, while the other is sprawled on the floor having a major tantrum.

6 Family Friendly Activities In Aruba

Are you looking for a great family destination for this summer? I would recommend Aruba. Aruba is also known as one happy island and I just love Aruba. But then again I might be biased because I am from Aruba. Aruba is very, very small but there is lots to do with kids. There’s more to Aruba than beaches and cocktails. Here are some of my favorite family activities in Aruba.

Whatever you end up doing in Aruba just remember to protect against the sun and dehydration. I don’t know about you guys, but for me, protection against the sun is wearing suntan lotion, however, it’s much more than that. It also includes wearing a hat and protecting the eyes with sunglasses.

Morning Routine: My Not So Perfect One

A morning routine something important. For me when I stick to my morning routine, it means less screaming at the kids and way less stress for me. I don’t like to rush my kids or scream at them (who does!?!?). Whenever I do I spend the rest of my day feeling bad about it and I don’t think that it can be good for them to be yelled at. Which is why I try to wake up before my kids. That is my time to eat breakfast in peace and have some me-time. After I’m done I wake them up early so they have time to get ready.

Recovering From A Burnout

Just like it takes some time for someone to have a full blown burnout, you can imagine that recovering from a burnout also takes a while. Like I’ve said before I’ve never had a burnout, but I’ve seen many people have it around me and I’m not a total stranger to mental health problems. Before they could get back to work it took a while and I think it’s especially hard for them because usually they are the kind of people who want to do everything, all the time and perfectly.

However taking the time to recover is very important, because it isn’t uncommon that people have multiple burnout because they don’t take the time to recover. Maybe it’s easy for me to say because I haven’t had a burnout, but my general advice is to take your time! The world is not going to stop turning if the dishes aren’t done and if your kids have to wear something they’ve worn before because you’re behind on the laundry (please tell me that’s not just me!!)

In this post I will describe the recovery process and give some tips that may be helpful during the different stages.

Discover The Surprising Signs Of A Pending Burnout

Women these days have much responsibility and roles they need to fulfill. They are expected to have a great career, beautiful, well kept home, active in their kids’ school life and amazing cooks. Their kids need to do great at school and in order for them to do great the working mom/housewife/cleaner needs to perform yet another role: teacher.

The standards these days are just impossible. I’m still not really sure if it’s the women themselves that put that kind of pressure on themselves or that society does that. I hear it all the time that people can’t come work for a long time because they have a burnout. The weird thing is that (in my perception) it’s always the people that is easy-going, friendly, has their life together that seem to get a burnout. That led me to question what a burnout is.
