2019 Gift guide for the geek dad

Father’s day is coming up and if your husband is anything like mine, that means he likes geeky stuff. However gadgets can get very expensive, so I’ve compiled a gift guide of gadgets that are under $50. That way you can buy your geeky husband a nice gift without breaking the bank.

BESWILL Solar Charger

Power banks are always good to have around. This power bank can be charged in the sunlight, but if that is not an option it can also be charged via USB.
A nice feature of this charger is also that it also functions as a flashlight. On one side it has the solar panels and on the other side, it has many LEDs, which gives a very bright light.

AmazonBasics USB-A 3.1 7-Port Hub with Power Adapter

This USB hub is not expensive and it is great to connect to the computer to charge and sync devices. The benefit of a USB port hub is that you have extra USB ports and because it can be put on your table you can conveniently add and remove devices.

HyperX Alloy Core RGB – Membrane Gaming Keyboard

Gaming keyboards can be very expensive. This keyboard is not expensive, but it does not look it. It does not need any software to set up. That’s why it does not have many different programs for lighting, but enough programs for this price range.
The nice thing about it is that the keyboard also has dedicated media buttons.

KINESIS Gaming Vektor RGB Mouse

This beautiful mouse works right out of the box but can be customized with its software. The nice thing about this mouse is that it fits large hands and it is very precise.

Hudly Fast 10W Wireless Charger Car Mount with Robotic Arms

This nice car mount lets you fast charge your phone without using wires. That way you don’t have to search for your cable and because it is wireless there is no wear and tear from plugging and unplugging all the time.

SanDisk Ultra Flair 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive

A flash drive is always a good thing to have. That way files and documents can be easily transferred from one place to the next.

Roku Express | Easy High Definition (HD) Streaming Media Player

The Roku Express lets you stream media to your television. It has a small remote control, but you can also install the remote control app on your phone. The remote app also has a nice voice search feature.

Echo Wall Clock

The echo wall clock is easy to install. Just ask Alexa to set it for you and it will set it and automatically adjust for daylight savings. You can easily set (multiple) timers and the LEDs indicate the time that is still left.

I hope this list helps you pick a nice father’s day gift.

Xoxo,

Vivian

How To Be A More Patient Parent

Before I became a mom I’d always picture myself doing everything right. I would see the parents with their kids in stores and the kids throwing tantrums or the parents screaming to their kids. I would think that the kids are being spoiled and the parents don’t really talk to their kids. They should be more patient and talking to them instead of yelling and just don’t raise bratty kids.
Fast forward a few years and there I am in the supermarket whisper screaming to one kid, while the other is sprawled on the floor having a major tantrum.

Morning Routine: My Not So Perfect One

A morning routine something important. For me when I stick to my morning routine, it means less screaming at the kids and way less stress for me. I don’t like to rush my kids or scream at them (who does!?!?). Whenever I do I spend the rest of my day feeling bad about it and I don’t think that it can be good for them to be yelled at. Which is why I try to wake up before my kids. That is my time to eat breakfast in peace and have some me-time. After I’m done I wake them up early so they have time to get ready.

Their kids need to do great at school and in order for them to do great the working mom/housewife/cleaner needs to perform yet another role: teacher.

The standards these days are just impossible. I’m still not really sure if it’s the women themselves that put that kind of pressure on themselves or that society does that. I hear it all the time that people can’t come work for a long time because they have a burnout. The weird thing is that (in my perception) it’s always the people that is easy-going, friendly, has their life together that seem to get a burnout. That led me to question what a burnout is.
